First Tastes {table food}

While my mom was here visiting during the week of Christmas, she casually asked one night when Palmer could start eating some table foods/finger foods.  I actually hadn't even thought about it, so we figured it was a good night to try!

We were having red potatoes with dinner that night, so Palmer enjoyed a few bites of baked potato! He loved it!  Since then he has tried baked ziti, vegetable lasagna, cheerios (cut in half), dumplins, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, breakfast casserole, scrambled eggs, black beans, apples and onions (that was cooked with sausage), and peaches.  So far he seems to have enjoyed all of it.

He only has 2 teeth, so I obviously keep bites small, but it is fun letting him experiment with new flavors and textures.  Our doctor said the only things to avoid at this point are nuts, shellfish, and honey.  Obviously some foods present more of a choking hazard than others, so we aren't giving him hotdogs or anything.  Ha ha! But soft, mashable bites of most foods should be fine.  He still eats purees as well, but during family meal times I let him have some of our food, if appropriate.  Happy Eating baby Palmer!!
