I have never hosted any type of home party and I thought it might be fun to take a look at how the party came to be!
Last October (I can't believe a year has passed since then) Raleigh and I put our home on the market in hopes of selling and moving to Nashville. We really do love Atlanta and have great friends here. If God keeps us in Atlanta for years to come, it is a great place to live.
But we do not have any family in Atlanta. Last fall, it just made sense to move. We wanted to be close to my parents and other family that is in Nashville. We had so many showings of our house. Everyone had great comments. But it just didn't sell.
One of the things that just didn't make sense when my dad passed away, was why our house did not sell. From our very worldly perspective, it seems like that would have been a good thing. But for now, God has other plans. He has us in Atlanta for now. We may be here a short time or a long time, but for now this is our home and it is a great place to live. It is the home where we are raising Beau and Palmer and we have so many great memories here.
God reminded me that when we purchased this home, we wanted to use it as a way to bless others....an opportunity to create community.... a place of comfort for those needing a break from the stress of life. I have always admired the gift of hospitality in others, and I want to enjoy and use our home in ways that honor God for the season that we are here.
So that brings me to the Noonday party. About a month and half ago I was reading Paige's blog. I don't remember exactly when or how I found her blog, but I've been reading it for a while. We have never actually met, but she is one of those people that you want to be friends with. She oozes sweet, Southern style and she loves Jesus. Paige recently traveled to Guatemala to meet some of the Noonday artisans and she wrote about the her passion for bringing the stories of the artisans to me and you.
In her blog post, she presented the opportunity to host a Noonday Collection show and something in my mind sparked. The Lord had been reminding me about using my home to create community and an opportunity was right in front of me. So I very spontaneously commented about possibly hosting a show. (Those of you who know me in real life know that I am not very spontaneous...at all.) Well, one thing led to another and a Noonday party is scheduled for Sunday at my house!
