Every year my emotions get closer and closer to the surface as we approach
Palmer's birthday. The week he was born was and is sacred and holy ground. The Lord literally carried us through those days and he used friends and family to do so.
When I think back on all the miracles that took place, my heart swells with gratitude that the Lord was so gracious to ordain Palmer's birth 4 weeks early in Nashville so that he and my dad could meet. It is sometimes the only thing that eases the sting of grief.
Palmer, I never want to forget you just the way you are today! I cannot believe you are almost three!
You wake up with ideas and plans and smiles everyday! You are ready the take on any adventure the moment your eyes open!
You are very inquisitive and love to ask why and how. You love playing pretend and making up stories.
If someone sits in the playroom and interacts with you, you will play endlessly. You love having a playmate and don't necessarily like to play alone.
You would wear your Paw Patrol t-shirt everyday if I let you. Luckily you like dressing up too and you love accessories like watches and belts.
You love playing dress up and usually choose your firefighter costume or doctor costume first.
Life with you is fun, and loud and expressive! Your joie de vie is contagious and people often comment on how much personality you have. You are full of energy until your head hits the pillow.
For as much confidence as you exude, there are things that still make you quite nervous....such as big animals. I recently thought it would be fun to visit a petting zoo that a local toy store was hosting. Beau was at school and I thought it would be a special activity for you. You sat in the stroller petrified of the animals while Rhodes walked around trying to touch them all.
You call all bugs "ladybugs" which is pretty cute.
You are a great eater but your attention span at the dinner table isn't always all that long. You love candy and think it is such a treat to eat M&Ms or really any type of chocolate.
Palmer, your life is such a gift! You are a gift and and an expression of God's great love for our family. Thank you for being YOU!
Let's enjoy one more day of you being 2, because I'm not quite ready for you to be three just yet!
