One Year

 One year.

Can't even believe the words as I type it, but my dad has been in Heaven for over a year now.

Quite unreal.

We wanted to honor my dad's amazing life and legacy and the celebrate the lasting impact that he continues to have on our lives every day.  How do you celebrate a life?  The task almost became too hard because nothing seemed like enough to honor my dad's amazing life. So we kept it simple.

We enjoyed a nice family meal at J.Alexander's, one of my dad's favorite restaurants.  Complete with carrot cake, his favorite.

The amazing songwriter Chad Cates performed the music at my dad's memorial service last year.  He  and his wife graciously offered to come over to my mom's house and play a few songs to honor my dad.  It was a very relaxed evening filled with music and barbecue.  My dad would have loved it.

Beau and my mom planted a dogwood tree in memory of my dad.  It will be special to watch it grow and bloom each spring.

My dad would have loved watching Beau play in the mud.

You can see the planted tree out the front door.

I miss you dad! Just as much, or more, than I did this time last year.

Easter 2014

Palmer's first year dying Easter eggs!

My cousin Kaitlin's birthday fell on Easter this year, so my mom made her a "hoppy" birthday cake!

Palmer took a turn in cousin Lily's tricycle.

Beau really got into hunting eggs this year!

After lunch, we headed to the river where my cousin Kaitlin was baptized.  Big day for her, Easter, her birthday and she was baptized.

Beau really had a great day, he just wasn't into the camera much.

This series of pictures was actually taken in the morning before church, but for some reason they keep appearing at the bottom of the post.

At the end of the day, the boys and I loaded up with my mom to spend the week in Nashville.  As soon as we got on the interstate Beau requested a burger, so we made a stop for a Happy Meal!

Happy {very belated} Easter!
