I think it is so fun when others bloggers share their favorite things! It is always fun to get a sneak peak into what others enjoy! So here are a few things I'm enjoying right now!
I seriously love this book/journal sold by Uncommon Goods. Before Christmas, I did a lot of research trying to find a good option for journals to record life stories. This is the very best one I found and it is very reasonably priced. I'm constantly thinking of things that I wish I could ask my dad. I wish I had recorded every story he ever told me. I bought one of these books for my dad's life story, and when the time feels right, I will fill out what I know. Between my mom, siblings, and others, I'm hoping we can fill out most of the book.
For Christmas, we also gave a copy of the book to my mom and Raleigh's parents. The journal is meant to be autobiographical, so you record your own memories based on your life. I just think it is a really special way to record memories. I want to buy more...one for myself, one for Raleigh, one for each of Raleigh's grandparents, etc. The book is divided into sections starting with childhood and then moving through adulthood. It is not something you would necessarily sit down and do all at once, but just a story or two at a time. I think it is a priceless gift to pass down to future generations. My dad's legacy is forever imprinted on my heart, but it will be neat to write down some of his life story.
On a lighter note, this salsa is AMAZING! During our last trip to Nashville, my mom mentioned she had picked up some salsa at Costco. I didn't think much of it. Then I tasted it. This salsa is seriously amazing! Honestly, if you like salsa, you should try this! It tastes like you just prepared it fresh!
I love this post by Flower Patch Farmgirl. I have no idea what questions Beau will have later in his life. Will he wonder where he got his cute button nose? Will he want to look for his birth mom one day? I have no idea. But I know that I love him with my whole heart and I will be his biggest cheerleader, wherever life leads.
I really like this shampoo. Now I have to be honest and say that I usually just buy any shampoo that happens to be on sale. But this is a special treat. It smells so fresh and gives my hair a bit of body.
Beau received Zingo for Christmas this year and it is a big hit. It is fun and easy to play and Beau caught on very quickly. I can see how it will be easy to switch it up a bit, to make it more or less challenging. When Beau is older, I could even see turning it into a creative writing activity...write a silly sentence or story using the picture cards....etc.
This is my favorite lotion for the the boys. I find it to be a little expensive, but it really is worth the splurge. Beau definitely gets dry skin in the winter, and it seems like Palmer is going to be the same way. We've tried lots of different lotions and this is the best I've found for clearing up their dry skin.
If you love a good picture book, this is a great one! It tells the story of Albert Einstein in a fun and refreshing way and the pictures are so whimsical and fun. One amazon review describes it this way..."Berne begins with baby Albert, who didn’t say a word. And as he got older, he didn’t say a word—but he looked and wondered. When he was a student, his teachers thought he was too different, but his differences led him to think about natural phenomenon like light and numbers in new ways." Just for fun, my favorite Einstein quote is, "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it'll spend its whole life believing that its stupid." The author, Jennifer Berne, has written several other books and I have put them on my wish list.
My kids love Zingo, too! And I think I'll try the salsa and shampoo! :) Love your favorite things posts!
