We feel so honored and overjoyed that the Lord saw fit to bless us with such a perfect treasure!
Here is a little update on Beau's personality right now!
-Beau is a great eater and will pretty much eat anything we cook for meals. His favorite foods right now are tomatoes, chicken, apples, grapes, and pasta. He loves milk and water to drink and will occasionally have some orange juice.
-Beau is a great walker now and is even trying to run! He also thinks it is really funny to try to jump. He bends his knees and pops back up, but he can't quite figure out how to actually get off the ground.
-Beau's favorite activity is being outside! He loves to just wonder around, dig in the dirt, play in his cozy coupe (thanks Karen!), play with rocks, or take rides in his stroller.
-Beau also loves playing with ice and water. By dinner time, Beau has usually played with all of his toys and is needing something else to do. I've been giving him some bowls of water and ice and various spoons to play with while I'm cooking. Yes, all of the water does eventually get on the floor, but with one quick swipe with a towel I can usually have it all cleaned up.
-Beau loves eating with a fork and spoon. He prefers to have an adult fork and spoon because he has realized that his "baby" silverware is different. Ha! Ha! Clever kid! Raleigh and I decided there wasn't actually anything wrong with him using adult silverware as long as he is using it for eating, so sometimes he uses it.
- Beau's receptive language has really exploded and he understands almost all of what we say and can follow many simple commands such as...get your shoes, wash your hair, brush your hair, brush your teeth, wipe your mouth, get a book, sit down, stand up, get the ice (he likes to open the freezer and get the ice out when I am filling up his sippy cup)...I'm sure there are more, but that is what I can think of right now.
-Beau recently learned a new word. He says /m/ for mail. He loves to help me get the mail each day! Ok...I know /m/ isn't a full word, but we are celebrating small victories over here!
-We started music class this month and Beau did really well in his first class last week. There are about 10 children in the class and most are about Beau's age. The class is once a week for 45 minutes. I think it is going to be great for some socialization because it still takes Beau a little while to warm up to new situations. He likes to stay right beside me for a while until he feels comfortable, and then will start coming out of his shell.
Beau is just growing and learning and thriving and we enjoy watching him explore new things! He is quite passionate about his likes and dislikes. Instead of choosing to view this as stubbornness, we are choosing to view it as perseverance. We pray every day and night that the Lord would capture his heart at an early age and fill his soul with the fruits of the spirit so that Beau's actions would overflow with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
