Today was a big day in the our house! Palmer had his first tastes of food...yummy avocado!
(I am obviously NOT a food photographer!)
Palmer will be 6 months old Monday and this is his first experience with food!
Since this is my family "scrapbook" I am going to add lots of details so that I will remember the experience!
My friend Mandy was a huge encouragement about how easy it is to make your own baby food. I know I won't make all of Palmer's first foods, but I'm giving it a try...at least for tonight!
I was originally going to make a big batch of green bean puree tonight, but Publix did not have ice trays for me to freeze the batch, so I decided to start with avocado.
Honestly, avocado is such a great first food! It is full of healthy fats and it is so easy to turn into baby food!
First, I bought a perfectly ripe avocado...very soft to the touch so that it would be ready to use.
First, I sliced the avocado in half!
Next, I scooped out half of the avocado and mashed it with a fork. I got it pretty smooth, but honestly didn't worry too much about getting out all the lumps.
I added just about an ounce of bm to thin it out a bit. And that was it! Seriously it took less than 2 minutes!
Palmer is all ready!
Beau is ready to help!
And then it was time! Palmer's first bites!
