Last week we went to the doctor for Palmer's two month check-up. Sweet little guy is doing great.
Palmer at 2 Months:
Weight: 10 pounds 11 1/2 oz (8th percentile) (up 2 pounds from last month)
Length: 22 3/4 inches (22nd percentile) (grew 2 inches since last month)
Sleeping: We try to time the last feeding of the day around 9:00pm or 9:30pm. He generally falls asleep immediately after that feeding and sleeps until 3:00am. After the 3:00am feeding he sleeps until about 6:00am and then we begin our schedule of feeding every 2-3 hours. He really prefers to eat every 2 hours, but I can sometimes push it closer to three if we are running errands.
Palmer is still sleeping in the bassinet of the pack and play. Our plan is to move him to the crib in his own room once he is sleeping through the night. I'm sure he would do just fine in there now, but selfishly I like having him close to me during the night. It is nice to be able to just take a peek every now and then. Plus I don't have to get out of bed to feed him at 3:00am.
Shots: At his 2 month check-up he got pentacel, prevnar, and rotavirus vaccines. Honestly, before Palmer was born, I was very torn about this. I researched every immunization schedule. I really wanted (and still want) to use a delayed schedule so that Palmer would not be getting so many shots at once. I would of course make sure he received every dose of every vaccine, but just spread them out a bit. However, even though Atlanta is a pretty metropolitan area, finding a pediatrician willing to use a delayed schedule is quite tricky. For now, Palmer has followed the CDC guidelines for vaccines, which is what our pediatrician follows. Trying to follow my heart, science, motherly instincts, etc on this one.
Palmer was very fussy the night of his shots and woke every hour and a half during the night. Luckily, he never had a fever. We did the "bicycle" motion with his legs at every diaper change to ensure the vaccines spread around and didn't just sit in his legs. By two days after his shots, he was back to himself.
Likes: Palmer likes being held, rhythmic butt pats, the sound of the microwave fan, the sound of the hair dryer, seeing Beau, being outside, kicking, sucking his hand, taking a bath, and listening to mom and dad sing. Also, Palmer likes being help upright after eating. He is more prone to spit up if he is laying down after a feeding. Therefore, I usually try to change his diaper right before a feeding rather than right after a feeding.
Dislikes: Palmer isn't really a fan of tummy time, but we push through. He also does not like it when I wipe his face with a cold baby wipe. I rarely do this, but sometimes I can get to a wipe faster than a burp cloth if he has a little spit up. Sometimes he will be nice and cozy and drifting off to sleep and Beau will find the loudest toy possible and it startles Palmer. As long as he is wide awake, the loud noises don't bother him.
Diapers: Palmer is wearing size 1 diapers.
Clothes: Palmer is definitely too big for all of his newborn size clothes. He now wears 0-3 months or 3 months. In fact, the 0-3 month white onesies that he sleeps in are getting a little snug....probably from being washed and dried so often.
Palmer's smile is the cutest little grin and we are so thankful that God chose us to be his parents.
